The best albums of the year for 2018 include a new batch of hip-hop, rap and country albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
This includes Drake’s To Pimp a Butterfly, The Roots’ Bad Blood, and a pair of rap-heavy albums from the duo Future and Kanye West.
The best of the rest of the album catalog was dominated by the likes of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., and Lil Wayne’s Notorious B.I.G.’s G.O.O., which came out the same day.
The album that came out in May was Kendrick Lamar vs. Lil Wayne, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Lil Wayne’s DAMNs debut, which featured guest appearances from Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, was the first hip-hopping album to come out in six years, and has topped the charts in more than 100 countries.
NCT, a rap and rap-oriented album from Kendrick Lamar and Lil Kanye, was No. 1 on the charts for six straight weeks, peaking at No and No. 7 respectively.
featuring Lil Wayne and Drake was the top-selling hip-hip album of the summer, pegging its debut at No 2.
Snoop Doggs DAMN.’s first official full-length album, which was released in 2017, was his third top 10 album, following 2015’s DAMn.
and 2017’s DAMNB.
It was also his first top 10 for a rap album since the year 2000.
Drake’s ToP, which landed at No 3 in the Billboard Albums chart in May, is the latest in a series of collaborations between the two artists, which have helped them to expand their reach.
Future’s DAM, which is his most-anticipated album of 2018, has not been released yet, but has been expected for years.
Kanye West’s NotoKi, which premiered at No, was also the most-discussed rap album of all time.
And Snoop’s DAMns debut, Future, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, was a major success in the hip-hops world.
